Overview
▶️ Local Media Player+ — a full-featured media player inside Chrome
Chrome finally gets the media player it has been missing.
Local Media Player+ brings local video, music, subtitles, IPTV, internet radio, Picture-in-Picture, an equalizer, clip recording, playlists, and timestamped notes together in one modern interface.
Open individual files, entire folders, and streaming playlists. Switch between a browser tab, a standalone window, and the Chrome Side Panel. Resume playback from where you left off and manage your entire media library without leaving the browser.
🔒 Your files. Your device. Your player.
Local Media Player+ plays local audio and video files directly from your device. During normal local playback, your media does not need to be uploaded to the cloud or sent to a remote server.
It is designed for personal media libraries, movies, music, lectures, study materials, and work recordings.
An internet connection is used only when it is actually required—for IPTV and HLS streams, internet radio, artwork, metadata, license validation, and other optional online features.
💻 Works in Chrome. Especially well adapted for Chromebook
Local Media Player+ works in Chrome across desktop platforms and feels particularly at home on ChromeOS.
On Chromebook, compatible media files and playlists can be opened directly from the Files app. Select Local Media Player+ and start playback immediately—without a Linux container, a separate desktop application, or uploading the file to the cloud first.
Folder access, drag and drop, and restoration of previously selected media libraries are also supported.
🧭 Three ways to use the player
Choose the layout that fits the task:
**Chrome tab** — the complete interface with maximum space for your media library.
**Standalone window** — a focused player without unnecessary browser elements.
**Chrome Side Panel** — keep video, music, or IPTV beside websites and work tabs.
All three modes share the same queue and playback state, so you can move between them without rebuilding your playlist.
🎬 Local video and music
Local Media Player+ is built not only for opening individual files, but also for working with a large local media library every day.
Features include:
— local video and audio playback;
— opening files and folders;
— drag and drop;
— a unified playback queue;
— Video, Audio, and Online filters;
— standard list and folder-tree views;
— audio artwork and channel logos;
— playback position memory;
— repeat, shuffle, and continuous playback;
— playlist saving and restoration.
📺 IPTV, M3U, and streaming media
Use Local Media Player+ as an IPTV player directly inside Chrome.
Supported sources include:
— M3U and M3U8 playlists;
— Extended M3U;
— HLS streams;
— internet radio;
— standard HTTP and HTTPS media sources;
— channel groups;
— names, numbers, and logos from `tvg-*` metadata;
— automatic and manual quality selection when multiple stream variants are available.
IPTV playlists become part of the same interface: channels can be searched, filtered, grouped, and opened in any of the three player modes.
Playback availability depends on the source server, codec support, and provider requirements.
🔤 Subtitles with precise controls
Load external subtitles for movies, series, lectures, and language learning.
Supported formats:
— SRT;
— VTT;
— ASS;
— SSA.
Adjust subtitle size, color, position, and delay, or correct synchronization while the video is playing.
🎧 Audio controls
Built-in audio tools let you shape the sound without installing additional extensions:
— equalizer;
— playback speed control;
— left and right channel balance;
— audio delay adjustment;
— volume normalization;
— night mode;
— repeat and shuffle;
— MP3 audio clip export.
The player is suitable for music, podcasts, lectures, language materials, and long-form audio recordings.
🖼️ Picture-in-Picture and multitasking
Open video in a floating window above other tabs and applications.
Picture-in-Picture is useful for courses, lectures, work-related video tasks, and background viewing. The Chrome Side Panel keeps the player directly inside the browser window.
⏺️ Record the part you need
Do not save the entire file when only one moment matters.
Local Media Player+ can:
— record video clips in WebM;
— save audio clips in MP3;
— capture important moments from lectures, movies, and work recordings.
Recording availability depends on the media format and browser capabilities.
📝 Timestamped notes
Turn playback into a complete study or work session.
Create notes while watching, attach them to exact timestamps, return to important moments instantly, and export the finished notes as a structured reference.
Useful for:
— online courses;
— lectures;
— language learning;
— video analysis;
— preparing materials;
— working with long recordings.
⏱️ Sleep timer
Set playback to stop:
— after a selected amount of time;
— after the current file;
— after the playlist ends.
Useful for music, podcasts, series, and watching before sleep.
🧩 One interface instead of multiple extensions
Local Media Player+ replaces several separate tools:
— local video player;
— music player;
— IPTV player;
— subtitle viewer;
— Picture-in-Picture tool;
— equalizer;
— sleep timer;
— clip recorder;
— timestamped note system;
— media playlist manager.
No collection of disconnected windows or inconsistent interfaces. Video, music, streams, and media tools are brought together in one player.
🚀 Local Media Player+ — Chrome becomes a real media player
Watch local movies. Listen to music. Open files directly from your device. Connect IPTV. Work with subtitles and notes. Move between a tab, a standalone window, and the Side Panel.
One player for local and streaming media—especially well adapted for Chromebook, but built for every Chrome user.
